Last weekend I went to a customer’s house to replace a glitchy piece of hardware. This does not happen often but this was a special case. The customer had done some of the basic troubleshooting and could not get it to work. Since we had installed fewer than 60 days prior, we went out to fix the problem at no cost. We also recommended our very reasonable Priority Support Plan in case something comes up later down the road.
As I was replacing the hardware, I noticed that the family watched a lot of TV from the antenna. They recorded Blue Bloods, The Good Doctor, 60 Minutes, NCIS, Madame Secretary, Chicago Fire and many other shows that are available for free with an Antenna. For what they liked to watch and record, the antenna was perfect.
During the replacement, they asked me about my favorite show and I didn’t hesitate in my response. My favorite show is “The Great British Baking Show” on Netflix. At first glance, this may seem a little strange from someone like me. In general, I loathe reality competition shows. All the backstabbing and deception that typically comes with these shows makes me despair for the fate of humanity. But the “Great British Baking Show” always restores my faith. Why? Because everyone is so nice to each other on the show. It is a real treat. Unfortunately, it always makes me crave cookies and cake.
While I was having the conversation, I also realized how much my viewing habits have changed since I became a cord cutter. When I am looking for something new to watch, my first choice is always Netflix. Why? Because Netflix has figured out how to make great original shows. They are not beholden to advertisers and there are no commercials. Its fantastic. And if you are not looking for live sports or live news, they have something for everyone.
To really start exploring Netflix, just go to search and select TV shows and then start trying some things out. Just know that you may want to enable subtitles for some of “The Great British Baking Show.” Some of the accents are tough to understand but you pick it up after a while.
